WHAT WE BELIEVE

At One Church we believe unity is so important to making the church the church. We recognize that many of us come from different social, ethnic and religious backgrounds so we give space for each of us to learn together. So, we will hold tight to our core beliefs, those things that make us uniquely Christian, but we will have grace and liberty in all other areas. The things we hold close are below. Check them out.

Our Statement Of Faith

We believe there is one God, who is infinitely perfect and exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 5:48, Matthew 28:19

We believe Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He is both fully God and fully man. He died upon the cross as a perfect, substitutionary sacrifice for the sins of all people, the Just for the unjust, and all who believe in Him are justified by His grace. He arose from the dead after 3 days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He is now at the right hand of Majesty on high as our great High Priest. He will come again to establish His kingdom, righteousness and peace.

Luke 1:34–38, Philippians 2:6–11, 1 Peter 3:18, Hebrews 2:9, Romans 3:23, Acts 2:23–24, Hebrews 8:1, Matthew 26:64

We believe the Holy Spirit is a divine person, sent to indwell, guide, teach, empower the believer to glorify Christ, and convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.

John 14:15–18, John 16:13; Acts 1:8, John 16:7–11

We believe the Bible is God’s Holy word to all people consisting in The Old and New Testaments. The Bible is inerrant as originally given, was divinely inspired by God and is a complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men. They constitute the divine and only rule of Christian faith and practice.

2 Peter 1:20–21; 2 Timothy 3:15–16

We believe man was originally created in the image and likeness of God. He fell through disobedience, incurring thereby both physical and spiritual death. All men are born with a sinful nature and fall short of the standard God has for us. Because of our sin, we are separated from eternal life with God, and can only be redeemed through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. All who believe will be made new and spend eternity in heaven.

Genesis 1:27, Romans 3:23-24, 1 Corinthians 15:20–23, Revelation 21:1–4

We believe salvation has been provided by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ for all men; and those who repent and believe in Him are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God. Once faith is placed in Jesus Christ salvation is received for all time.

Ephesians 2:9, Titus 3:4–7

We believe it is the will of God that each believer should be filled with the Holy Spirit and be sanctified wholly, being separated from sin and the world and fully dedicated to the will of God, thereby receiving power for holy living and effective service.

1 Thessalonians 5:23, Acts 1:8

We believe there is power in the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ for the healing of the human body. Prayer for the sick and anointing with oil are taught in the Scriptures and are both powerful and effective for the Church in this present age.

Matthew 8:16–17, James 5:13–16

We believe that the Lord’s Supper (Communion) is a commemoration of the Savior’s death, and, through participating, we “proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.”

1 Corinthians 11:23-26

We believe the Church consists of all those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed through His blood, and are born again of the Holy Spirit. Christ is the Head of the Body, the Church, which has been commissioned by Him to go into all the world as a witness, preaching the gospel to all nations.

Ephesians 1:22–23, Matthew 28:19–20

We believe in the generosity of the local church to support, care for one another’s physical needs and encourage one another in the body. The church is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together in community for the worship of God, for edification through the Word of God, for prayer, fellowship, the proclamation of the gospel, and observance of the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

Acts 2:41–47

We believe in the generosity of the church to serve others outside the church through service and outreach. Jesus gave us the example of our posture towards others when he acknowledged that He Himself came not to be served but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many. He also said, “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

Mark 10:45, Matthew 25:40

We believe in the unity of the local church. God created all mankind in His image and as He brings Heaven to Earth there will be diversity throughout His kingdom. However, despite our individual and cultural differences and perspectives, it is the desire of God for the church to be in complete unity under the Lordship and protection of God the Father. In this way, and as we love one another, we will show the world we are His disciples.

Genesis 1:27, John 17:11, 21, John 13:34
